UIL realignment cutoff numbers

I wanted to get a couple quick thoughts about the UIL annnouncing its cutoff numbers for the 2014-16 realignment.

Remember, everyone moves up a class as the UIL is renaming six-man into Class A, Class A becomes 2A, etc.

Below are the numbers and what area schools will be in which division. Noteworthy itmes include:

* Graham was four students above the cutoff and will be in 4A Div. I — likely with Hirschi and Burkburnett. That leaves Vernon and Iowa Park in the smaller 4A division.

* Olney will stay in 2A (old A). The Cubs turned in 212 and many thought they’d go up, but 220 ended up being the cutoff for 3A.

* Seymour and Quanah are dropping down into the smaller 2A division. Quanah turned in 157 — which is right on the 2A Div. II number and Seymour had 155. So the current District 3-A Division I is assured to be different.

 * I’m not sure of all our six-man teams’ numbers, but Throckmorton turned in 53 and will be going into the smaller Class A division.
