Week 2 not easy for picking NFL winners

Survivor pools look tough in the NFL unless you’re taking the Patriots over the Jets tonight. And even then the Patriots have few names you know except for Tom Brady tonight. And RB Steven Ridley was shaky last week.

For the Patriots to be a sure thing after they barely beat Buffalo last week you’re counting on Geno Smith to behave like a rookie and throw a few picks.

In my survivor pool I’m saving the Pats and taking the Packers at home over Washington, but I can see losing that game as well.

Maybe I’m being careful. My one loss in this pool last year for 17 weeks was the Patriots. At home. To the horrid Cardinals.

I may go down this week but not going down with the same team.

On paper this looks like another winnable game for the Cowboys, playing at Kansas City at noon Sunday. But I think they’ll have their hands full. They’ll have trouble turning Alex Smith and Co. over like they did the Giants.

And I think the Chiefs are sneaky good. I think this is a really good game, kind of like the Cowboys at the Bengals last year. Dallas won that one, one of its most impressive wins of 2012. Maybe they can do it again.

My Sunday Ticket favorites to go along with watching the Cowboys at noon are Redskins at Packers and Rams at Falcons. And I’ll probably have to take a look at Chip Kelly & Michael Vick round two as they face the Chargers.
