- Track season is here
Friday, February 29th, 2008
While there have been a couple of relay-only meets the past couple of weeks, this weekend signifies the beginning of track season.

Four years ago, I had never seen a track meet. And the first one I was at was one of those all-day marathons that McNiel Field seems to hold every year. - Gnarls Barkley single “Run”

Enjoy. I can’t wait for the new Gnarls Barkely album, set to released sometime in the next couple of months. “Run” is available on iTunes.

Hulk Hogan’s divorce might have been caused by the fact that the little Hulkimaniac couldn’t stay behind bars.
Share
Hogan’s split with wife Linda, who teamed for a great reality show duo, couldn’t make it work. News is spreading today that Hogan was befriending his daughter, Brooke, friend in more ways than one.
All I could do when I read the story (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23397552/) was laugh.
First he slams Andre the Giant and now he’s slamming teenagers. What a guy. I will still continue to look up to him, mainly because he was the guy I cherished when I was a 10-year old running around the house in my underwear and boots pretending to try and rip my shirt off.
Who am I kidding, I still run around with the house in my underwear and boots. The only difference is this time I can actually rip my shirt off. It takes a while, but I get the job done.
MSNBC did quote the National Enquirer for the story. I know, what were they thinking – The National Enquirer? Likes like the Times Record News quoting a sixth-grade class about the alleged love affair of Dr. Pepper and 7-Up. - Seinfeld photos

The TRN, unfortunately, wasn’t able to sneak a camera into the Jerry Seinfeld show Thursday night.

So, if anyone got a picture or two they would like to share with the rest of the Clayton Hein blog fans, email away.
I’d be happy to post, or try to post, anything that is postable.
The review should be coming soon. I know I had a good time. More thoughts on the show to follow Friday morning when I’m less tired then I am now.
Oh, and if anyone got the chance to meet Seinfeld in Wichita Falls while he was staying in town, pass along the story because I would love to read it.

- Texas Wildfires
Tuesday, February 26th, 2008
This was written by the Associated Press. It’s an update to what’s going on in the Lone Star State. Reminder: give what you can to your local volunteer fire department.

ROBERT LEE, Texas (AP) — (Robert Lee is southwest of Abilene)
Firefighters across West and Central Texas continued to battle wildfires Tuesday that burned at least 200,000 acres, injured several people and forced the temporary evacuation of the 1,500 residents of Robert Lee, an official with the Texas Forest Service said.
Fire officials were waiting for daylight Tuesday to assess the scope of one massive wildfire stretching across Sterling, Reagan and Irion counties in Central Texas that could be as large as 500,000 acres, said David Abernathy, an incident commander with the forest service.
Airplanes will fly over the fire during daylight Tuesday to obtain more accurate mapping data, he said.

Here’s a Feb. story from Baltimore, M.D. It’s about a 14-year old kid skateboarding somewhere he shouldn’t have been and a cop who must have been having a bad day.
Share
The 14-year old, from what it appears, is OK. The officer was suspended after the video was found on YouTube.com.
I’m sure the children’s parents had something to do with the officer’s suspension.
This shouldn’t be an example of how officers abuse their powers at time, it should be looked at in a way of how we treat other people. Badge or no badge.
Here’s a link to the paper, the Baltimore Sun, who has been covering the story.

- Cowboy Cheerleader Barbie
Friday, February 22nd, 2008
Just take a look for yourself and judge. Its a Barbie and its a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.
Share
I got this email from the Dallas Cowboys. I’m a loyal subscriber to Dallascowgirls.com, and I felt like I had to pass this along.
And I’m not really sure how I feel about it. Its a Barbie! What’s a grown man supposed to do with a Barbie. But I’m partial to the Cowboys Cheerleaders, have been since I was an up and coming young man attending the training camp events.
I still remember the first time I saw them dance. There was an event held at the track at Sheppard Air Force Base, might have just started high school.
It might be pathetic, but I still remember one of the songs that they danced to — Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.” That’s the kind of guy I am, I guess.
Anyways, for anyone interested on buying the $50 doll, here’s where to find one.

The above is exactly why I didn’t want to see little Manning win the Super Bowl. Soon Eli will be hosting SNL. It’s the end of the world as we know it.
I do love the Oreo. If you want to have a little fun on work time go to http://nabiscoworld.com/oreo/dsrl/home.aspx .
Oh yeah, and I hear that Eli has landed the cover of the Madden game franchise. At least I can count on a curse. Giants to repeat?, probably not now. - Texas vs. Texas A&M — big screen style

- Dunk Contest ’08
Monday, February 18th, 2008
Gerald Green had my vote — up until he did back-to-back between the leg dunks. I don’t remember something as spectacular as the “blowin’ out the candle” dunk.
Share
It took mine and his breath away when he did it. Gerald Green is something else. I love Dwight Howard, mainly because he looks like he can have so much fun in his over-sized frame.
And the Superman dunk, if you can call it that, was (to quote Roger Clemens) mis-seen by the judges. He had his back turned to the like of Karl Malone and Dr. J and they couldn’t see what the human Shrek was doing at that point in time.
Then Gerald Green ran out of ideas. He took his shoes off, signed them, put them on the judges’ table and rode off into the lights of New Orleans arena.
The one thing that disappointed me was the failure of Rudy Gay. I’d have to say the first dunk, a rock the cradle type, was nice. It was better than a 36 he got.
Gay was also unable to bring out the non-hyped fan dunk. A few weeks ago he posted a request for help on his site. He wanted a fan’s perspective on what dunk he should display.
It never came.
One final thought, Jamario Moon is no James White, of the San Antonio Spurs. White is the only person I’ve seen that can dunk from the free throw line two handed.
Moon’s attempt at taping about two feet behind the free throw line and missing by about four feet was comical.
Here’s White on display. Maybe he should be in the dunk contest.

I’m a fan of the backyard brawl. Something about seeing two guys knock the snot out of each other does it for me.
Share
I’ve watched about every backyard fight posted on YouTube.com. It’s a rush, and I don’t really know why.
Over the past year one guy in particular has risen through the ranks by sheer lore. His name, Kimbo Slice.
The guy is a beast. He basically was a bare-knuckle fighter for the longest time, but about 8 months ago he started getting into mixed martial arts. I think he stands at about 6’4″ and weighs about 250 pounds. Just a guess, but there aren’t a lot of guys in that weight class able to compete.
I was never really a fan with MMA, but I’m turning the corner — mainly because the Ice Man, Chuck Lidell lost and Kimbo Slice’s rise through the ranks.
Kimbo has only lost once, according to what info I’ve run across. It was early fight against Sean Gannon, an ex-cop, who at the time was a MMA fighter. Kimbo wasn’t. Youtube it and see a brutal fight.
Here is a link to Kimbo’s Saturday (Feb. 16) fight. I don’t want to embed the video mainly because its a fight and its graphic.

The story in today’s Times Record News( http://www.timesrecordnews.com/news/2008/feb/14/not-my-tv/ )
suggests that some people might be a little upset about the drama making its way to national syndicated airways.
Don’t know what people are getting so worked up over. It’s just a TV show. Would I let my child watch it. Who knows. I grew up watching “Police Academy” movies and I think I turned out OK. Some people might say otherwise, but my mommy and daddy love me regardless.
I didn’t know what was actually going on during those “Police Academy” and they were some pretty racy comedies – all 182 of them.
“Dexter” is just a TV show. I’ve seen more tame and I’ve seen a lot worse air on CBS. Mainly reality TV. They’re are going to have to dial it down because its going on CBS. Nobody wants another “wardrobe-malfunction” fine.
Relax, its all I’m saying.
