Saturday is a holiday. April Fool’s Day. I know my boss reads my blogs, so I want to ask:
D.C. “Are we getting April Fool’s bonuses this year?”
I asked that same question about Christmas bonuses and they said:

I found what I considered a great story on the Knight Ridder wire today — question and answer sessions with Denny McLain.

Problem is I can’t find anybody in the newsroom who remembers Denny McLain.
The guy won 31 games in one season with the Tigers.
That is nine more games than Chan Ho Park won in four years with the Rangers.
The first 30 game winner since Dizzy Dean went 30-7 in 1934.
Denny McLain was talk of baseball in 1968.
But he wasn’t a one-year wonder. In the five season from 1965 through 1969, he won 108 games.
His ERA in 1968 was 1.96.
Then he screwed up his life, went to prison and nobody younger than me remembers how good a pitcher he was.
Hope people remember me for what I have written in the newspaper and not for the these blogs.
I don’t think the newspaper is promoting the blogs (What’s new?),. so most people don’t know they are here any way.
If you really are reading this right now, then you are a really good friend of mine (God bless you) or you are lost.
Either way, I will take what I can get.
Until next time,

Now I know that is not a big deal with you, but it was for me. I found two children at the back of my bottom drawer. I think I had seen their pictures once on a milk carton.
I had notes and phone numbers and addresses from people who have been dead for months.
One of these days I am going to start going through stuff in my storage room at home.
I bought the house in 1989 and the guy who lived there before me used the room for a workshop. I am a klutz. I have no need for a workshop. I once made a breadboard in shop class and took it home. Never saw it again. Somebody tossed it when I wasn’t looking.
I bet I have sports memorabilia in my storage room that would sell for a lot of money on ebay.
I have tons of Cowboys stuff. Anybody out there interested in buying old Cowboy memorabilia, email me and we will talk. I know I have stuff like the bound Dallas Cowboys Weekly that Tex Schramm put out the week after they won Super Bowl XII in 1977. That’s almost 30 years old now. Programs from Super Bowls. Lots and lots of stuff.
Do any of you guys listen to my radio minute Fridays on the Buzz. I know it comes on at 6:50 a.m. and I think it comes on after 8 sometime. I have done it for a year now and I really don’t know if people hear it. Tell me if you do.
If I have any kind of audience I will preview stuff in these blogs.

I got pretty good at this blog thing when I was in Turin, but that was a month ago, so I screw up, please forgive me.

I admit I love March Madness.
The first weekend, I got to cover the NCAA Tournament in Dallas and left there believing in Memphis. I never really liked the Texas team, but Memphis seemed to have it together. Great athleticism, Great depth. Great coach.
Why not Memphis?
Well, once they got to the final 8 in Oakland, they sucked. They just self-destructed and gave UCLA an easy Final Four berth.
Texas did what I expected Texas to do. I wonder what Coach K or Roy Williams or Rick Pitino or event Billy Gillespie would do with the talent the Longhorns have. They just never seem to have it together. The only reason they stayed close to LSU was Buckman played over his head.
Now we have the Final Four.
I like Florida vs. LSU with Florida winning.
I want to pick LSU but I think a team in this era of college basketball has to shoot 19 foot jumpers better than the Tigers do to win a national championship.
George Mason? I would love to see it. But it can’t happen. Can it?
